I got to see this concert and it was wonderful. A real return to form for the boys from Athens. I am looking forward to their new album. If you would like to hear the concert yourself you can find it here.
Dir En Grey is a Japanese rock band that has a truly powerful live show.� You don't have to understand the language to get the emotion that they pour into their music and appreciate the driving rock music that they interweave with the lyrics.

SXSW Images
Here is some of my photography from SXSW 2008.
I didn't get this guys name but I loved how colorful his ink was.
The pillows had an odd sort of Beatles vibe to their show.
This Japanese group did WW II era songs.
Peelander Z was an insanely funny Japanese rock group from New York.
Avengers In SciFi had a new wave sort of sound with a hard rock edge. The BBC was standing a few feet behind me filming this entire show.
Sodopp was a Japanese pop rock band made up of three girls that just embodied the word cute.
Kimya Dawson seemed to be taken aback by her new found fame. Her music was picked up for the Juno movie soundtrack and she was getting a lot of attention at SXSW.
The Iraq war was on everyone's mind. At this show Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine teamed up with Serge Tankian from System of a Down as well as British rock Billy Bragg and a disabled war vet to speak out against America's current policies overseas.
Camera crews were everywhere. I had been sitting on this couch and I stepped away for a minute to go to the restroom. When I got back a film crew had set up and started interviewing someone.
